In this 7-hour workshop Leandro, Ricardo and Sérgio will CONNECT SPEECHES and LINK theory to practice. They are going to STRESS the importance of developing your knowledge of phonology, so your PHONEMES will never be the same.

They will tackle topics such as connected speech, weak forms, intonation, word and sentence stress in speaking and listening through films.

Tutors:

Leandro Zuanazzi has been an English teacher since 2011, when he received a degree in Languages at UNESP. He has considerable experience teaching general English to groups of teenage and adult learners. Currently, he is working as a freelance teacher teaching one-to-one classes to learners with a wide range of needs: general English, English for specific purposes, business English, survival English for travelling, exam preparation (Cambridge English main suite exams and TOEFL iBT). He also teaches language teachers who want to improve their level of English and develop their communication skills. He holds the CPE, the CELTA, and the TKT (Modules 1, 2, and 3). Leandro is passionate about professional development and has a special interest in writing skills as well as language development for teachers. He is an active member of BRAZ-TESOL and has given a presentation on developing writing skills for teachers.

Ricardo Barros is a CELTA tutor, Delta module 2 local tutor and freelance teacher trainer based in Jundiaí–SP. He has taught English since 2003, working as a teacher, mentor, academic coordinator and Cambridge speaking examiner. He holds the Delta, CELTA, CPE and a BA in History from Unicamp. His Delta Module 3 Specialism focused on Teaching Exam Classes. He is also interested in Phonology and Language Development for Teachers. Ricardo was an advisory council member for BRAZ-TESOL in 2017/2018.

Sérgio Pantoja has been in the ELT field since 2002, having worked for several language schools in Brazil as an English teacher, teacher trainer and speaking examiner. He has mostly worked with young adults and adults in the areas of general English and preparation for proficiency exams. He holds the Delta, CPE, a degree in Languages, a postgraduate degree in English Language Teaching and Translation, and a TESOL Certificate from the University of Oregon, USA. His Delta Module 3 Specialism focused on Language Development for Teachers. Sérgio will be an advisory council member for BRAZ-TESOL in 2019/2020.

In this 7-hour workshop, Sérgio and Ricardo will share their tips to make you a successful exams teacher. They will tackle topics such as how to pace the course, how to balance teaching and testing in the exam class and how to build students’ exam skills. They will also focus on teaching skills (Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking) and discuss the difference in teaching Cambridge Main Suite exams (such as FCE, CAE and CPE) and the IELTS.
